S2 Window Full Restoration
This post documents the restoration of the S2 window, original to the addition put on the 1950s.
Here is a picture taken before deconstructing the jamb. I pulled the casings off the jamb so that I could get the pulleys out.
The left and right jambs showed some rot, as did the blind stops.
The sashes were steamed in a homemade steambox to loosen the glazing.
One muntin bar was partially rotten.
It was repaired with a dutchman and some wood epox
Here is the upper sash after stripping, with a thin strip tacked on the top to make it taller.
And a picture of the sash manufacturer, Huttig Sash & Door Company out of Charlotte.
Hardware was soaked in a crockpot and excess paint removed. Pulleys were installed and weight access pockets were cut.
Jamb was repaired with woodepox and sashes were glazed, primed, and painted. Bronze weatherstrip was installed in jambs and silicon bulb was installed in sill and head jamb.
