S1 Window Full Restoration
This post documents the restoration of the S1 window, original to the addition put on the 1950s.
Here are a few pictures taken while deconstructing the jamb. I pulled the casings off the jamb so that I could get the pulleys out.
The sashes were steamed in a homemade steambox to loosen the glazing. One pane was broken and was replaced.
After the glass was removed, all paint and primer was scraped off and sanded. Hardware was soaked in a crockpot and excess paint removed. Pulleys were installed and weight access pockets were cut. Two weights were missing, but I was able to find replacements at the salvage yard.
Jamb was repaired with woodepox and sashes were glazed, primed, and painted. Bronze weatherstrip was installed in jambs and silicon bulb was installed in sill and head jamb.
